Since the arrival of Frisbii, which has helped structure its invoicing, Cloud Kicks has increased its turnover and plans to expand its business internationally.
Linda is delighted with this news. However, this involves different legislation, in terms of sales and VAT rates, which is why it is necessary for Cloud Kicks to set up product configurations and product rules.
Definitions and use cases
Frisbii allows you to structure your invoicing on several markets and countries. If you wish to adapt your product catalog to different sales and/or tax contexts without duplicating your products, you can use product configurations and product rules.
| Product configuration | Link between the product rule and the account, quotation, subscription or invoice. |
| Product rule | Dedicated object to give more context to your Salesforce products. |
The product configurations allow you to manage the particular cases of sale of your products (e.g.: product sold with a different VAT rate depending on the country, product). They allow the management of all product information in a dedicated object. The product rule offers more details on the sales context of a product.
The use of product configurations combined with product rules is mandatory when, for the same product sold in a different context, you :
Manage different VAT rates and/or VAT accounts depending on the context
Manage different product accounting accounts depending on the context
Manage different analytics depending on the context
Wish to adapt the detailed description of the product to this context.
Notes:
(1) The product configurations can be associated with an account or with an accounting data. By associating them with the accounting data, you can multiply the invoicing contexts (head office - subsidiaries...).
(2) The product rules apply to both the quotation and the invoice, to enable context management throughout the process.
Thanks to product configurations and product rules, Cloud Kicks will invoice in Frisbii taking into account the following information:
The same product,
Different VAT rates (France and UK),
Different accounts (France and UK).
Data model
You can still use the Frisbii data model to understand the relationship between the Product Configurations, Product Rules and other dependent objects.
A product can be taken into account in several product configurations but be different, depending on the context. Also, when a product configuration is available on an invoice, automatically a link is made between its product rules and the products of the invoice lines.
Please find here is a diagram that shows an exemplary configuration:

The available fields on the two objects
The Product Configuration object consists of only two fields:
Name of the record
The currency

Product | Lookup (Product) |
|
| Lookup (Accounting Account) |

VAT (%) | Picklist |

Now that you are more familiar with the notions of product configurations and product rules, as well as when to set them up in Frisbii, we will configure them together.
