If a third-party system is used, a manual customer creation must be carried out via this system. In order to create a customer, follow these steps: 1. Open menu item **Customers**. 2. In the action bar, click on **Create a Customer**. The following fields are available: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/b84e1b5d-2ba6-4465-8c62-fb45a2f31314/Images/Documentation/image-7E7WUUI7.png) - **Username** The username allows customers to log in without using their email address. If your SSO settings require customers to set a username during account creation and you leave this field empty, the customer will be prompted to create one when they first log in. - **Email Address** You have two options: 1. Enter the customer's actual email address for standard communications 2. Create a placeholder email (dummy email) if the customer prefers not to provide one. Placeholder addresses won't receive any mailings and can be replaced with a real email address at any time. The format of the dummy email is always **customerID@plenigo-mail.com** - **Invoice Email Address** If your customer wants to receive invoices at a different address than their primary email, enter it here. - **Salutation, First Name, and Last Name** While these fields are optional, collecting this information enables you to personalize customer communications and create a more professional experience. - **Phone Number** Having a phone number on file makes it easier to reach customers directly when needed. - **Language** This setting determines the language used for all automated emails and customer communications. - **Customer Number** The system automatically generates a unique customer number. However, you can override this with a custom number if you need to maintain consistency with your existing numbering system. - **External System ID** If this customer already exists in another system or third-party platform, enter their ID here to maintain synchronization between systems. - **Source of Customer Registration** The default value is "Supporter," but you can enter your name or employee ID instead. This helps your team identify who created the account for any follow-up questions or support needs. - **Leitweg-ID** This identifier is required for XRechnung invoicing to German federal administration clients (B2G). The customer must provide this ID to you. - **Send Welcome Email** Enable this checkbox to send an automated welcome email after account creation. This is only recommended when you've entered a valid email address. The welcome email serves two purposes: it confirms the email address is correct and working, and it provides the customer with proof of registration. --- ### Set a Password Once the customer account has been created manually, the customer must be provided with the login credentials so that they can sign in via SSO. 1. Provide the customer with the login page and have them access it. 2. In the Merchant Backend, open the customer account and click **Manage** → **Reset Password** in the action bar. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/b84e1b5d-2ba6-4465-8c62-fb45a2f31314/Images/Documentation/image-GSU168W8.png) 3. A one-time password is generated. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/b84e1b5d-2ba6-4465-8c62-fb45a2f31314/Images/Documentation/image-KL1RWU0J.png) 4. Share the password with your customer. 5. The customer enters the one-time password into the login form. 6. The customer will be automatically redirected to the password reset page, where they can set their own password. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/b84e1b5d-2ba6-4465-8c62-fb45a2f31314/Images/Documentation/image-JP526GEA.png) 7. Now the customer can log in at any time using their new password.
