Two-factor authentication for Merchant Backend users

Prev Next

Preliminary Remarks

Secure passwords are an important building block for more online security. Two-factor authentication provides additional security for access to the Merchant Backend. For two-factor authentication, a second, variable factor comes into play in addition to the password, which is required for a successful login. The username, password and a one-time code must therefore be entered. The latter is generated by an app and is only valid for a short time. We strongly recommend the use of two-factor authentication for the live system.

Set up and use two-factor authentication for users

Two-factor authentication can be activated for all Merchant Backend users in the contracting company's Backend Security Settings.

The Google Authenticator app, for example, can be used as an authentication app. The process for logging in with two-factor authentication is as follows:

Setting up two-factor authentication In the login screen for the system, the Merchant Backend user enters their username and password. A second window opens in which the QR code must be scanned using an authentication app.

The app automatically generates a 2FA token, which must be entered in this field.

Two-factor authentication the next time you log in

The QR code does not need to be scanned again the next time you log in. The Merchant Backend user simply has to open the app and enter the generated code in the input field.
