Configure Components

Preliminary Remarks

Customizable checkout variants can be created using the checkout editor.

The first step is to configure the components, such as the design, payment methods, content and addresses , so that these can simply be selected when creating the checkout variant.

The preview window in edit mode and in the detail view helps to immediately recognize where which field is displayed in the checkout.

The folder structure can be used to sort the components in order to create a better overview and to be able to access the desired components more quickly.

UX/UI design

The checkout display can be customized using CSS or JavaScript. If no settings are made here, our standard design applies. Our examples help you to easily make minor changes, such as color or font, even if you have no programming knowledge. >> to the code examples

Payment Methods

In Payment Methods, determine which of the configured payment methods should be made available to customers.

  • The configured payment methods can be dragged from the left-hand side to the right-hand side and sorted there using drag & drop.

  • In addition, a payment method can be defined as a preselected option that is automatically preselected when the checkout is called up. Of course, the customer still has the option of choosing a suitable payment method from several payment methods.

Contents

  • Define fields: Decides which of the fields (title, voucher, order identifier, different billing email address and opt-in during checkout) should be shown or hidden.

Note: If opt-in during checkout is selected, it must be ensured that an opt-in variant is maintained and activated in the menu item Settings > Applications > Opt-Ins.

  • Define pronouns of address: Decides which pronouns should be used to address customers - formal, neutral or personal. This function is currently only available for German and English.
This is reflected, for example, in the following texts:

    • formal: not relevant in English

    • personal: "Your Invoice Address"; "Please select a payment method."; "Enter your voucher code."

    • neutral: "Invoice Address";  "Select payment method"; "Enter voucher code"

  • Additional Information can also be added.
This can be a general text that is to be used regardless of the offer and is to be displayed to customers when they call up the checkout.
For example: "We use your e-mail address to send you offers for similar products or services from our company. You have the option to object to this use at any time free of charge via the link."

Addresses

In Addresses, you define which address fields should be displayed to customers when adding a billing and delivery address.

  • A distinction can be made between private customers (B2C) and corporate customers (B2B).

  • If Checkout for business customers only (B2B) is selected, the VAT identification number field is mandatory for both customer types.

Note: Selecting the fields does not automatically mean that these fields are mandatory. It simply means that they are displayed to customers. Mandatory fields are grayed out and cannot be removed.

The following fields are marked as mandatory fields in the checkout by default in order to be able to request a complete address:

  • Private Person

    • Salutation

    • First and last name

    • Zip code

    • City

    • Country

  • Company

    • Company name (if first name and surname are not activated)

    • Salutation

    • First and last name (if company name is not activated)

    • Zip code

    • City

    • Country

Global Settings

The global settings apply to all checkout variants that are configured.  As there can only be one variant of the global settings, the folder structure is not available here.

The following settings can be made:

  1. Allowed Domains determines which domain may be used to access the checkout.

  2. Allowed Countries determines in which countries the checkout may be accessed.

  3. Contract partner text: A contractual partner text can be maintained here, for example By completing the order, you confirm that you are entering into the contract with Muster GmbH and that you have read and accepted the GTC and Privacy Policy. The details of your subscription, such as duration, payment methods and notice periods, can be found in the order overview and the GTC."
