Preliminary Remarks
Subscriptions can be canceled in various ways in the Merchant Backend. In contrast to the customer in Self Service, the supporter has the option of canceling subscriptions outside of the defined notice period. The requirements for canceling in Self Service can be found in this entry >> Cancellation in Self Service
A cancellation can only be withdrawn under certain conditions.
Cancellation options - time-based subscriptions
In which case is a cancellation withdrawal not possible?
If a partial cancellation was triggered by the cancellation. In the case of time-based subscriptions, this is the case if the accounting period is longer than the subscription interval (e.g. with an accounting period of one year and a subscription interval of one month).
Cancel regularly
The subscription will be canceled at the earliest possible date.
Example
The customer would like to cancel a monthly subscription with the following general conditions:
Accounting period: 1 year
Subscription interval: 1 month
Cancellation period: 2 days before the end of the subscription interval
Purchase date: 01.01.2024
The subscription can now always be canceled on the 1st of the month. The Merchant Backend always displays the date on which the subscription is canceled in compliance with the notice period. If the subscription is canceled on 29.03.2024, it will end on 01.04.2024. If the subscription is canceled on 31.03.2024, it will end on 01.05.2024.
Cancel at Given Date
This option is only available if future subscription intervals are still pending.
The cancellation dates that can be selected are within the notice period.
Example
The customer would like to cancel a monthly subscription with the following general conditions:
Accounting period: 1 year
Subscription interval: 1 month
Cancellation period: 2 days before the end of the subscription interval

All future dates on which the subscription can be canceled in compliance with the notice period are displayed in the Merchant Backend. In this case, these would be the following: 01.02.2024, 01.03.2024, 01.04.2024, 01.05.2024, etc.

If the accounting period is longer than the subscription interval.
If the accounting period is more than one year.
If the accounting period and the subscription interval are longer than one month.
The notice period is not taken into account.

The subscription will be canceled immediately. The notice period is not taken into account and the cancellation cannot be withdrawn. The customer will not automatically receive a refund of the remaining amount.
Cancellation options - issue-based subscriptions
In which case is a cancellation withdrawal not possible? If a partial cancellation is triggered, the cancellation cannot be withdrawn. With issue-based subscriptions, payment is processed at the beginning of the accounting period, which is why a partial cancellation is usually triggered in the event of cancellation at issue level.
The cancellation options available depend on the notice period defined in the product contract. The following notice periods can be defined for issue-based subscriptions:
Cancellation before the end of the accounting period
Cancellation before the publication of each issue
With this option there is an additional cancellation option "Regularly on issue level".
Regularly until the end of the accounting period
The subscription will be canceled regularly. The accounting period is the number of issues defined in the product contract. The subscription ends upon receipt of the last issue of the active accounting period.
Cancel Now
The subscription will be canceled immediately. The invoice is not automatically canceled, which is why the customer does not receive a refund of the remaining amount. The cancellation cannot be withdrawn.
Goodwill Cancellation
The goodwill cancellation allows to cancel on issue level. Cancellation is only possible within the current accounting period. The notice period is suspended. This cancellation is available for both notice period options. A refund of the remaining amount is automatically triggered and refunded to the end customer via the corresponding PSP (exception: payment on invoice). The cancellation can no longer be withdrawn!
Regularly on issue level
This cancellation option is only available if the cancellation period is defined in the product contract before the publication of each issue.
The available cancellation dates are the publication dates defined in the delivery list, subject to the notice period. The subscription ends after publication of the selected issue. Cancellation is only possible within the current accounting period. The selected issue is the last issue that the end customer receives.
The data available for selection for Regularly at issue level and Goodwill Cancellationis the publication date from the corresponding delivery list.
