Use cases
1 Controlling Team Size with max-members
You offer three plans: Starter, Business, and Enterprise. Each plan allows a different number of team members to access the platform.
Starter includes:
max-members(up to 5)Business includes:
max-members(up to 25)Enterprise includes:
max-members(unlimited)
When a company subscribes to the Business plan, they can invite up to 25 team members. If they need more seats, they either upgrade their plan — or you offer a "Extra Seats" add-on with an additional max-members entitlement, allowing them to extend their limit without a full plan change.
You can also grant a specific customer more seats directly at the subscription level, for example during a negotiated enterprise deal, without touching the plan itself.
2 Managing Streaming Quality with 4k-streaming
You offer a video streaming platform with two plans: Standard and Premium.
Standard includes:
max-simultaneous-streams(1), no4k-streamingPremium includes:
max-simultaneous-streams(4),4k-streaming
A subscriber on the Standard plan contacts support asking for 4K access for an upcoming event. Instead of asking them to upgrade their full plan, you add the 4k-streaming entitlement directly to their subscription for the duration of the event — then remove it afterwards. Their billing stays unchanged.
This is also a powerful tool for free trials of premium features: you temporarily grant 4k-streaming to a Standard subscriber to give them a taste of the Premium experience, with the goal of converting them to an upgrade.
