Preliminary Remarks

With an issue-based subscription, it is possible to sell an offer with one or more price steps and/or issues.

🚫 Limitations

The following limitations apply to issue-based subscriptions:

  • Multiple products within an issue-based offer are not supported.

  • Bundles within an issue-based offer are not supported.

  • Age-related rules cannot be applied.

  • Up-selling and down-selling are not supported.

  • Cross-selling is only supported if the issue-based offer is the source offer (with a tag).

  • Multi-user offers are not supported.

  • Cross-client offers are not supported.

Product contracts are required to create a subscription. These can be created either before or during the offer creation process. More information on product contracts >> Create product contract and Application Examples Product contracts

Note: A price sheet is required to create a product contract within the offer creation, which must have already been created before the offer creation.

Billing

The timing of invoice generation depends on whether the subscription is single-step or multi-step.

Single-step, recurring subscription

The invoice is issued on the first publication date of the new period. The customer receives the invoice along with the first issue of the new period.

The subscription (offer) remains unchanged - as indicated by the fact that the subscription ID does not change.

Multi-step subscription

The invoice for the subsequent period is issued on the last publication date of the preceding step. The customer therefore receives the invoice for the second step along with the last issue of the first step.

When changing steps, a new subscription is created - indicated by the fact that the subscription ID changes.
