Plans supporting this feature: Starter Growth Scale
Overview
By default, all components of a subscription — the base plan, add-ons, and usage-based billing products — share the same billing frequency. With different billing frequencies, you can assign an independent billing cadence to each add-on and usage-based billing product in a subscription. This lets you align charges with how your customers actually use and pay for your services.
For example, you can bill a base plan annually, invoice an add-on quarterly, and charge a usage-based product monthly; all within a single subscription.
Good to know
Each component with a different billing frequency generates its own separate invoice. Alternatively, you can sync a component to the plan's billing cycle so it appears on the same invoice as the plan.
The price defined on an add-on or usage-based billing product always refers to its own billing period, not the plan's period.
Existing subscriptions without component-level frequencies are not affected by this feature.
Before you begin
You have an active plan with a billing frequency configured (see Plans).
You have created or are creating an add-on or usage-based billing product (see Add-ons and Usage-based billing).
Understand the compatibility rules below before configuring frequencies.
Compatibility rules
Not all combinations of plan and component frequencies are valid. Frisbii Billing enforces the following rules:
🚫 LimitationA component's billing frequency must be equal to or longer than the plan's billing frequency, and must align perfectly with one or more plan billing periods. For example, a monthly plan supports monthly or yearly add-ons — but not weekly ones.
The table below shows which combinations are supported:
Plan schedule type | Daily component | Weekly component | Monthly component | Yearly component |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Daily | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Weekly (fixed day) | ❌ | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
Monthly (start date, fixed day, last day) | ❌ | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ |
Yearly | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ | ✅ |
Configure a billing frequency on an add-on
Go to Configurations → Product Catalogue → Add-ons.
Click Create add-on or open an existing add-on.
In the add-on form, click More options. Click on Billing frequencies and Confirm.
Set the billing frequency:
When do you want to bill? — choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
How often do you want to bill? — enter the interval length (e.g. 3 for every 3 months).
Click Save.

Good to know
Changing the billing frequency on an add-on after it has been applied to a subscription does not affect existing subscriptions. Only new subscriptions created after the change will use the updated frequency.
Configure a billing frequency on a usage-based billing product
Go to Configurations → Product Catalogue → Usage-based billing products.
Click Create product or open an existing product.
In the product form, click More options. Click on Billing frequencies and Confirm.
Set the billing frequency:
When do you want to bill? — choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
How often do you want to bill? — enter the interval length (e.g. 3 for every 3 months).
Click Save.

Add a component with a different frequency to a subscription
Usage-based billing product
Go to Subscriptions and open the subscription you want to edit, or create a new subscription.
In the Usage-based billing section, click Add usage-based billing product.
Select the component. If it has a billing frequency that differs from the plan, you cannot save the configuration.
Click Submit to save.
Add-On
Go to Subscriptions, open the subscription you want to edit, or create a new subscription.
In the Add-On section, click Add Add-On.
Select the component. If it has a billing frequency that differs from the plan, you cannot save the configuration.
Click Submit to save.
🚫 LimitationIf you switch the plan on a subscription to one with an incompatible billing frequency, any incompatible add-ons or usage-based products are automatically removed from the subscription. Frisbii Billing warns you before this happens.
Invoicing with different billing frequencies
When a subscription contains components with different billing frequencies, Frisbii Billing generates invoices as follows:
By default, each component with a different billing frequency is invoiced on a separate invoice on its own billing date.
If a component's billing date coincides with the plan's billing date, it can be included on the same invoice as the plan.
Each invoice line item for a component shows the service period (from – to), so your customers and finance teams can validate exactly what is being charged.
Subscription changes (upgrades, downgrades, cancellations)
When you make a change to a subscription that has components on different billing frequencies, Frisbii Billing prorates each component based on its own active billing window — not the plan's period. Credits or refunds are calculated per component and applied automatically.
