Plans supporting this feature: Starter Growth Scale
Overview
Add-ons let you offer optional extras alongside a subscription plan — for example extra storage, premium support, or additional seats. You can price an add-on per unit, in quantity tiers, or with a custom pricing model, and decide which plans it's available for. This article covers how to access the add-ons list, create and edit add-ons, deactivate them, and configure custom pricing and billing frequency.
Create an add-on
To create an add-on with regular pricing, follow these steps:
Click + New on the Add-ons list. The Create Add-On page opens.
Under Information, fill in the add-on's basic details:
Enter a Name and a Handle.
Optionally add a Description for internal use.
Optionally set Minimum units and Maximum units to limit how many units of this add-on a customer can select.
Optionally add a Cost object to link this add-on to an internal cost object.
Under Pricing, configure how the add-on is priced:
Select the Currency.
Under Pricing Model, choose Per unit.
Set the VAT rate. It defaults to Standard (Incl. VAT) — click the pencil icon to change it.
In the per unit field, enter the price of your add-on.

Under Availability, decide who can buy the add-on:
Choose whether the add-on is available for All plans or only for Select plans.
If you choose Select plans, use the search bar to find plans, then select the plans you want to include. When selecting this option, it means that only the plans selected are eligible for this add-on.
Under Entitlements, optionally click Add entitlement to attach an entitlement to this add-on.
Click Create (top right) to save the add-on.
When the add-on is created, a confirmation message appears.
Create an Add-on with tiered pricing
Plans supporting this feature: Growth Scale
Custom pricing lets you charge based on the number of units a customer declares upfront — such as seats, SMS credits, or storage blocks — using the same volume-based pricing models available for usage-based billing. Unlike usage-based billing, no usage is reported after the fact: the quantity is set when the add-on is added or changed, and the price is calculated immediately from that quantity.
To create an add-on with tiered pricing, you can follow all the steps described above in section Create a new add-on and choose the tiered pricing in the Pricing section.
Tip
Use the pricing calculator to see how your customers would be billed using your pricing configurations.
Enter the amount of units and the VAT %, and the calculator automatically sums it using your pricing configured above and shows how it would be calculated on the customer’s invoice.
Choose a pricing model
Choose one of four pricing models:
Per Unit
A single price applies to every unit purchased.
Example:
€5 per seat
12 seats = 12 × €5 = €60.
Per Unit Step
The price per unit changes across ranges, and each range is billed at its own rate, so the total is a sum across steps (graduated pricing).
Example:
1–10 seats: €5 per seat
11+ seats: €4 per seat
For 15 seats: (10 × €5) + (5 × €4) = €70.
Per Tier
The total quantity determines a single tier, and that tier's price applies to all units.
Example:
1–10 seats: €5 per seat
11–20 seats: €4 per seat
For 15 seats, all 15 units are billed at the 11–20 tier price: 15 × €4 = €60.
Per Tier Step
The total quantity selects a tier, and within that tier, the price still changes across internal steps.
Example, within the 11–20 seat tier:
Seats 11–15: €4 each
Seats 16–20: €3.50 each
For 18 seats (which falls in this tier): (5 × €4) + (3 × €3.50) = €30.50.
Note
Per Unit Step is graduated across every step up to the purchased quantity, while Per Tier applies a single tier's price uniformly once the quantity qualifies for that tier. You can configure only one pricing model per add-on — clone the add-on if you want to offer it under a different model.

How tiered pricing appears on invoices
Invoice and order lines for add-ons with tiered pricing show the applied tier or step breakdown alongside the total, so it's clear how the price was calculated.
Configure a billing frequency on an add-on
You can find more detailed information on different billing frequencies here: Set different billing frequencies for add-ons and usage-based billing products
Go to Configurations → Product Catalogue → Add-ons.
Click Create add-on or open an existing add-on.
In the add-on form, click More options. Click Billing frequencies and confirm.
Set the billing frequency:
When do you want to bill? — choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
How often do you want to bill? — enter the interval length (for example 3 for every 3 months).
Click Save.
